How do I know if my child needs additional academic instruction?
Only you as a parent can make that determination. Teachers may make recommendations, but it is ultimately your decision as to whether you child will actually benefit from tutoring sessions.
How do I know if a tutor is the right fit for my child?
It is extremely important for a tutor and a student to be compatible. The first step is to set-up an initial complementary evaluation session. That way, a student can have the opportunity meet me before committing to future tutoring sessions. Parents also appreciate the chance to ask questions, review my credentials, and share any concerns regarding their child.
Do you instruct students individually or in groups?
Either. I prefer to instruct students individually, but I am willing to tutor small groups of 2 to 3 students if preferred. For example, occasionally when preparing for an exam, a group setting can be equally effective.
Where will these sessions take place?
I prefer teaching at my in-town location. A student's home can be full of distractions. Although, I am able and willing to come to your home if that is your preference.
How frequently should a child be tutored?
It depends on the student and their objectives. This is something that can be discussed further in our introductory meeting.
What if I have other questions?
